Welcome to Ellwood Education

My name is Margaret Ellwood, and I work with other experienced professionals in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to help children and students become independent learners. I take the time to understand your strengths and learning style and then guide you towards the available support to help you achieve your full potential.

Over the past three decades, I have mentored teachers, directed leading educational departments, conducted outreach work, and provided advice on government policies and practices. As a qualified teacher of dyslexia, I have a keen interest in the learning process and the impact of excellent teaching on a child's confidence in the classroom. My extensive experience as a specialist teacher and advisor for Hampshire County Council and in both state and independent sectors has enabled me to work with students of different learning profiles.

Additionally, my qualification as a teacher of the deaf, I have a unique insight into language acquisition, which supports my current assessment and teaching practice. I have had the privilege of working with many children with complex needs in school, university, and work placement settings.

I regularly assess students for schools in Hampshire, Surrey, and Wiltshire, as well as several UK universities.

I consult with a small number of children and students each month to formally assess and diagnose dyslexia and specific learning differences.
